African Path launches social networking site

Visit African Path Village

Minneapolis, MN December 07, 2007 - African Path (http://www.blogger.com/www.africanpath.com) has just launched the African Path Village (http://village.africanpath.com/). African Path works at providing Africans with a platform where they can own and tell their stories on the global stage.

“The Village will allow our site visitors to connect and share the unique cultures from within Africa,” says Joshua Wanyama, founder of African Path. “We strive to provide a great online space that represents the continent. We are excited about the African Path Village as we have now opened doors for a lot of people to tell their stories while interacting with friends and family on our space.”

The growth of online communities has also made it possible for people to connect and discover new worlds. The African Path Village will facilitate this connection while providing the added benefit of news and opinion content from our flagship site African Path and our business site Cheetah Index.

This additional service allows African Path to better serve a growing number of site visitors seeking to connect with African culture, access breaking news and opinion on the continent and discover new businesses serving the African communities worldwide.

African Path launches Cheetah Index

African Path launches business site

As part of our mission to fill the void left by conventional media in covering African issues, African Path will take an active role in supporting and empowering the continent’s young and progressive decision makers. Today, African Path announces the launch of a dedicated business section under the African Path network which will be branded as the Cheetah Index. Currently the site will run on a Beta version.

The Cheetah Index derives both its name and inspiration from Ghanaian economist Dr. George B.N. Ayittey, author of Africa Unchained. A central topic in this book is the new generation of young African professionals who look at Africa ’s problems from a different and revolutionary perspective. Dr. Ayittey believes that this group of professionals plays a central role in re-vitalizing African economies. This group of progressive, problem solving and action-oriented Africans are called the “Cheetah Generation”.

African Path will build the Cheetah Index into a leading online resource for Africa ’s current generation of decision makers. These will include managers, entrepreneurs, government officials, educationists and other people who influence Africa ’s development. The site will provide breaking business news, profiles on African entrepreneurs and industry news while making it easier for business people from Africa and other continents to connect and network.

The site will premiere on November 26, 2007 at http://www.cheetahindex.com.

1st Edition of the Africa Enterprising Blog Carnival!

I am pleased to announce the first edition of the new blog Carnival for Africa Enterprising, which premiered on African Path this morning.

The Blog Africa Enterprising is the publicity arm of the Africa Enterprising Blog Network. And the aim is to promote increased awareness about Africa's trade potential by publicizing blogs and the bloggers who focus on business or entrepreneurship in Africa.

For those of you who may not be familiar with blog carnivals, here's a good definitionwhich comes by way of blogcarnival.com

We think blog carnivals are a great way for bloggers to recognize each
other's efforts, organize blog posts around important topics, and improve the
overall level of conversation in the blogosphere. Carnivals come in edited
"editions", just like magazines or journals. The fact that carnivals are edited
(and usually annotated) collections of links lets them serve as "magazines"
within the blogosphere, and carnival hosts can earn their readership by
providing high quality collections.

Since blog carnivals include lots of posts on specific topics, they also
serve as a place to connect with those who are expert (or at least highly
opinionated!) and those who are interested in that field.

The carnival went "live" on the African Path(http://www.africanpath.com/p_blogEntry.cfm?blogEntryID=942 ) this Wednesday June 6, 2007 morning at 10 am eastern standard time. Hat tips to Joshua for the great formatting job that he did on this edition.

The addresses where you can find past and future issues and links are:
http://blogcarnival.com/bc/tb_10849.htmlhttp://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Also, if you'd like to participate in this and or future issues of this blog carnival, there are several ways for you to do it.
  • you may submit 1 or 2 of your past blog posts about business or entrepreneurship, as it pertains to one or more African countries
  • You may write about the blog carnival.
  • You may add the blog carnival to your blogroll
  • Or you may join the discussion group.

Otherwise, we hope that you enjoy this first edition of the blog carnival for Africa Enterprising!

Announcing the Africa Enterprising Blog Network

Africa Enterprising Blog Network!

Posted by beninmwangi on May 14th, 2007

Hi, I thought I’d let you know one of the things that we are working on. It’s a netwrok of bloggers who writes about some aspect of business in or with Africa. Below is an excerpt from our website:

This group is about publicizing blogs and the bloggers who focus on business or entrepreneurship in Africa.

The idea behind this type of network is that although me may each be very skilled and talented on the individual level, together we can do even more to promote busines and entrepreneurship in Africa.

If you are an Africa blogger who blogs on business or industries in Africa, then this group can help you by:

  • providing you with syndicated related content
  • publicizing your content

This can help you to do two things really well:

  • grow your readership and
  • spread the message about the viability of business and entrepreneurship in Africa.

Which is probably why you began blogging in the first place, right?

Announces...

The Conference and the Investment Forum are designed to draw together individuals, government representatives and agencies, private sector entrepreneurs, potential foreign investors and multiple stakeholders to deliberate on effective initiatives for engaging the Kenyan Diaspora and international investors in Kenya's development process.

At the moment Kenya is at a critical point in defining her vision for the next decades in a rapidly changing global economic and social context. Since 2003, the economy has been on a remarkable growth trajectory recording an estimated 6% in 2006 from 0.6% in 2002. In 2006, the Government of Kenya launched a long-term strategic vision for the country - Vision 2030, which lays the foundation for an economic revolution of the country with the aim of transforming Kenya into a globally competitive and prosperous nation by 2030. Vision-2030 entails the consolidation of economic and social gains made so far coupled with a projected accelerated and sustained economic growth of at least 10% per year. With the most advanced commercial infrastructure in the region, steady economic growth and strategic location, Kenya is attracting renewed attention from both local and foreign investors.

What are the fundamental drivers behind the remarkable economic growth? What investment opportunities are emerging? What are the fundamental changes that are taking place in Kenya's economic and commercial landscape to consolidate and accelerate this growth? For answers to these and more questions, join the dialogue with a high-powered delegation of public and private representatives from Kenya.
